How to Maintain Hardwood Floors: A Complete Care Guide
Proper hardwood maintenance comes down to five habits: sweep or dust-mop daily, damp-mop weekly with a pH-neutral hardwood cleaner (Bona or Loba), keep humidity between 35–55%, use felt pads on furniture, and screen-and-recoat every 5–7 years.
Daily
Sweep or use a microfiber dust mop. Grit is the enemy — it sands your finish with every footstep.
Weekly
Damp-mop with Bona or Loba hardwood cleaner. Never use vinegar, ammonia, Murphy's Oil Soap, or steam mops — all of them dull or damage waterborne finishes.
Seasonally
